Why people buy it

Three things our customers keep saying

The colour range

The most-mentioned thing in our reviews, by a distance. Packs run from 12 skeins to 100, so you can plan a piece around what you have rather than around what you're missing.

Six strands that separate

100% cotton, six-strand, divisible. Pull one strand for fine detail or work all six for a bold line. It should come apart without fraying or catching — if it doesn't, tell us and we'll make it right.

Needles and bobbins in the box

Every pack includes needles and floss bobbins. Reviewers keep calling the winder an unexpected bonus, which tells you how often other brands leave it out.

Our book

Stitch by Stitch

Most people who quit embroidery quit in the first three weeks. Not from lack of talent — from confusing instructions, and from not knowing what normal looks like when you're new.

So we wrote the book we wanted when we started. How much thread to cut. Which stitch to learn first. Why the back of your work looks like that. It's coming later this year, and there's a full chapter you can read now.

Where we come from

A Norwegian company, honestly told

Avenfair is owned by Powergroup Norway. We come from a country where embroidery isn't a hobby that needs defending — the Hardanger fjord gave the world a whole style of whitework, and people can still read your home region off the stitching on a collar.

Our floss isn't made in Norway, and we won't pretend otherwise. We ship from the UK. What Norway gives us is the reason we take a cheap craft material seriously in the first place.
